LG Signature OLED TV R9
The TV of the future is here—almost. From LG Signature, comes the R9 a 65-inch, 4K HDR smart TV that ascends and retracts into a minimalist, 60-plus inch-long front-firing speaker that is a collaboration between LG, high-end furniture manufacturer Kvadrat and Dolby Atmos. High-quality picture meets high-quality sound, but the real takeaway is this—your TV screen will be rollable. While a 65-inch screen would normally dominate a room, the R9 allows homeowners to easily transform spaces from cinemas to conversation spaces and back again. And because the R9 is equipped with LG’s ThinQ AI as well as Google Assistant and Alexa, owners will be able to unroll their TV with a simple verbal request.
The LG Signature OLED TV R9, which debuted at CES 2019 and was an innovation award honoree, has not yet made it to market—or been priced by LG—but interested parties can sign up at lg.com to be notified when the R9 is available.
Mirror
Just a simple full-length mirror, right? Look again. With a few syllables and swipes, The Mirror becomes one of the most complete gyms you may ever find. Yes, The Mirror is the world’s most reflective personal trainer—when dormant, it is a body-sized surface for styling and self evaluation, but when active it becomes a yoga class, a cardio class, a boxing class and much more. The Mirror offers over 70 live weekly classes over a variety of disciplines as well as an ever-expanding archive of on-demand classes for whatever full-body workout you’re feeling. The Mirror also offers a full suite of analytics so users can track their vitals as well as their progress. Of course, you can always turn the Mirror off and see how you’re doing too.
The Mirror, which is available as a wall mount or with a floor stand, costs $1,495 for the mirror itself with a monthly membership fee of $39 that provides unlimited classes for up to six family members.
Ori Pocket Closet
Talk about “transformative technology.” The Ori Pocket Closet can reshape a room at the touch of a button. Entertainment center meets workstation meets walk-in closet, the seven-foot tall Ori consists of two halves—or one half when paired with a traditional in-wall closet. On the user- facing side are a series of shelves, including an area with enough space to hold a 48-inch flatscreen, as well as an unfoldable desktop that forms an impromptu workstation. On the side of the unit sits a button that, when tapped (or activated via app or voice control), splits the Ori in-two, with the device automatically moving to reveal up to 120-inches of hanging space and 168 cubic feet of storage—essentially adding a walk-in closet to any room.
The Ori Pocket is available for $5,990 to $7,990, depending on the size of the unit.
Tulèr
Art meets smart in the Tulèr, a collaboration between Tipic Design Studio and the Offmat research lab, and the end result is intriguing, intuitive and invisible luxury. Billed as the "world’s first responsive kitchen,” this minimalist masterpiece consists of synthetic stones with modular technology integrated inside, giving users complete gesture control over the kitchen’s elements. Those elements? A countertop scale, an automatic drawer that opens with a brush of a hand, induction cooktops integrated into the tabletop, a wireless device charger, and the coup de grace—an invisible sink. This sink starts flush with the countertop, but descends to form a basin—and ascends when sink usage is complete—all through gesture control. Likewise, the accompanying faucet is activated and deactivated by user movement.
