SAN JOSE – A Utah tech executive went missing during a trip to the Bay Area on Monday, and now her family and friends are pleading for the public’s help in finding her.

Erin Valenti, of Salt Lake City, was last seen in Palo Alto wearing torn jeans and a white T-shirt, her husband, Harrison Weinstein, wrote in a Facebook post Wednesday.

“I write this post with a lot of pain and fear, but can really use your help,” Weinstein wrote.

Valenti was set to catch a flight home from San Jose that day, but she did not board the plane or return her rental car, described as a gray Nissan Murano with license plate No. 8LUD641, Weinstein wrote.

Weinstein said his wife’s phone has been off since Monday.

A spokesman for the San Jose Police Department said detectives have classified the case as a “voluntary missing person.”

“We have not been actively searching for her,” Garcia said.

Weinstein, however, is asking anyone who has seen or heard from Valenti to contact police.

Valenti is the founder and CEO of Tinker Ventures. The company designs, develops and scales technology products for iOS, Android and the web, according to its website.

According to KSL-TV, Valenti was slated to attend the Women Tech Awards on Wednesday and receive an award for entrepreneurial excellence. Sara Jones, co-founder of the Women Tech Council, of which Valenti is a member, told the station it was “surprising to have a finalist not show without notice. The tech community is very worried about her.”
